What is the difference between the owner key and the TSA keyway?
The Guardian TS-431 includes an owner key as a backup way to unlock your lock. The TSA007 inspection system is for authorized airport security access. You can use either your 4-digit combination or the included owner key for everyday access—you do not need a TSA master key.
What happens if I forget my Guardian TS-431 combination?
The included owner key gives you a backup way to open the Guardian TS-431 if you forget your combination. Once the lock is open, you can follow the normal reset procedure to set a new 4-digit code. Keep at least one owner key in a separate safe place when traveling.
Will the Guardian TS-431 fit my suitcase or backpack zipper?
The Guardian TS-431 uses a rigid steel shackle measuring 0.14 in in diameter with approximately 1.09 in of vertical clearance. The lock body measures 1.22 × 2.63 × 0.52 in. Check the opening and clearance of your zipper pulls, case, locker, or other attachment point before purchasing.
How do I set or reset the Guardian TS-431 combination?
The Guardian TS-431 uses a parallel-press reset system. Open the lock with the current combination, rotate the shackle 180 degrees so it is parallel to the lock body, press it down gently, then set your new 4-digit code. Can TSA change my Guardian combination during an inspection?
No. TSA inspection access does not change your personal 4-digit combination. Airport security can use the TSA007 inspection system to open and re-lock the lock without knowing or changing your code.
How many combinations does the Guardian TS-431 have?
The Guardian TS-431 uses a resettable 4-digit combination with 10,000 possible codes from 0000 to 9999. You can change your combination whenever needed, as long as you can open the lock before entering reset mode.
