SURELOCK PL-5 FAQs

Can I open the SureLock PL-5 with both a combination and a key?

Yes. The SureLock PL-5 is a dual-access luggage lock. You can use your personal 4-digit combination for everyday access or the included backup key when key access is more convenient.

What does the red Open Alert indicator mean?

The red Open Alert indicator pops up when the lock’s key-access mechanism has been used. This can help you notice that the lock was opened with a key, such as during an authorized baggage inspection. Using your own backup key may also activate the indicator.

How many combinations does the SureLock PL-5 have?

The SureLock PL-5 uses a 4-digit combination, giving you 10,000 possible codes from 0000 to 9999. You can change the combination whenever needed using the built-in reset switch.

How do I set or reset the SureLock PL-5 combination?

Open the lock and use the built-in reset switch to enter combination-setting mode. Choose your new 4-digit code, then return the reset switch to its normal position before closing the lock. Test the new combination several times while the lock is still open.

What should I do if I forget my SureLock PL-5 combination?

The backup key gives you another way to open the SureLock PL-5 if you cannot use your combination. After opening the lock, follow the product’s reset instructions before using a new combination. Keep the backup key in a separate, secure place rather than inside the bag being locked.

What can I use the SureLock PL-5 cable lock on?

The SureLock PL-5 uses a flexible steel cable designed to pass through compatible suitcase zipper pulls, backpacks, duffel bags, travel bags, and other small locking points. Because zipper pulls and attachment openings vary, check the available opening and clearance before purchasing.

Solid Little Lock

I'm going cross country and need a luggage lock.I bought a different one first from a different manufacturer. It came highly recommended by lock reviewers and one of the AI agents. I couldn't get that lock to accept a new code, and so I refunded it.I then bought a two pack of these because I still wasn't convinced that it would fit into the small holes on my zipper tabs. I have a strange back pack. It is made and sold by the Boss musical instrument company, and is designed to hold my pedal board. I have more zippers than locks. My biggest regret is not simply buying the 4 pack of these.Instructions were clear:This was the entire issue with the first lock. That lock came with a 4 image pantomime of what to do on the back of the package, and nothing was clearly explained. The dial numbers were loose and sloppy. This lock came with an instruction card that unfolded, and explained things easily.Setting the code was ridiculously easy. If you have a bad memory put the code in your secure files folder or something. Because, while you can change the code infinite times, it will always require the current set PIN.I think that this lock is as durable as it can be. If somebody takes a set of bolt cutters to it, it won't last long. But I bet you could run it over with your car for days and it would still work. It's black in color as the pictures show. The numbers are bright white. They click into place and don't feel sloppy, It has a decent weight for a small object.I would never buy a lock based on its looks, but the design team have made a nice looking product.Value for money is a little harder for me to quantify this time. The ONLY reason that I have to buy this lock, is because other people already have the keys to break into it and rifle through my stuff and potentially steal it. Like happened a few months back with that dude's Oscar.I don't find that to be a good value at all!But the price of these locks versus the perceived durability of them means that if I'm forced to buy more TSA locks in the future, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase from this country.

Big sturdy lock with good snap action combination dial, plus backup keys.

This lock has a shackle that is just a hair too big for my gate, but otherwise it is a great lock for many applications, including storage lockers. My gate is a very common gravity latch swinging gate so check your dimensions before purchasing. This shackle is about 5/16" and the hole on the gate is slightly over 1/4" for a 1/4" / 6 mm shackle.Even though it is not suitable for my particular application I am giving it 5-stars for build quality and the ability to easily reset the combination.

Check my photos- Best purchase in a long time!

More than super impressed with these. Excellent quality, super well-made, and the flexible cable allows me to lock all three zippers at once on the outside of my roll-aboard case. What a great value too! Buy these, not any others.

Heavy Duty TSA Combination Lock with Backup Key Access

Review:This 2-pack SURE LOCK TSA-approved combination padlock set provides a versatile security solution for protecting cases, lockers, storage areas, and equipment. The combination of a resettable 4-digit code and backup key access is a convenient feature, giving you an alternative way to unlock the padlock if the combination is forgotten or unavailable. The TSA-approved design makes these locks especially useful for travel and equipment cases that may require inspection. They work well with compatible cases such as equipment boxes, tool cases, camera cases, and other storage containers where secure access is important. The reinforced lock body and hardened steel shackle provide a solid feel and appear built for frequent use. Compared with smaller luggage-style locks, this design offers a more substantial level of protection for larger cases, lockers, and storage applications. The versatility is another strong point. These locks can be used indoors or outdoors for applications such as tool boxes, storage units, gates, sheds, cabinets, and lockers. Having two locks in the package also makes it convenient to secure multiple items or keep a spare available.Pros4-digit combination with backup key accessTSA-approved design for compatible travel casesHeavy-duty construction with hardened steel shackleSuitable for equipment cases, lockers, and storage areas2-pack provides convenient extra coverageConsRequires remembering the combination or keeping the backup key secureNot designed as a replacement for high-security commercial locksSummaryA durable and versatile padlock set that combines convenience and security features.
